Summary
No account is needed. Your documents stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. The app uses Google AdMob for ads and Google Play Billing for the optional Pro upgrade. It does not use analytics or crash reporting.
1. Documents and data on your device
- PDF documents you open, your reading positions, voice settings and pronunciation fixes are stored on your device.
- We do not have access to your documents and do not receive copies of them.
- Audio files you export and anything you share go only where you choose.
2. Storage access
The app accesses only the files you pick with the system file picker or open from another app. It does not request "All files access" and does not scan your other files.
3. Text to speech
Reading aloud uses the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone. The text being read is passed to that engine on your device; the app does not send it to us. If you choose a network voice in your engine's settings, that engine's own privacy policy applies.
4. Text recognition (OCR) and scanning
Text in scanned pages is recognized with Google ML Kit on your device. Camera reads use Google's document scanner from Google Play services; images are processed on your device and are not sent to us. The app itself does not request the camera permission.
5. Notifications and background playback
While reading aloud, the app shows a media notification so it can keep playing with the screen off. On Android 13 and later it asks for permission to show notifications; you can decline.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, including optional rewarded videos that unlock a temporary Pro Pass. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID, IP address and device information to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings, Google, Ads).
7. Purchases (Google Play Billing)
The optional Pro upgrade is offered as monthly, 3-month and yearly subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. We do not see or store your payment details.
8. No analytics or crash reporting
PDF Voice Reader does not use an analytics or crash-reporting service and does not send us usage data. Google Play may give us aggregated, anonymous statistics such as install counts and crash rates, under Google's privacy policy.
9. No account, no selling of data
The app has no sign-in. We do not sell your personal information.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Retention and deletion
Your documents remain in the locations where you saved them. Uninstalling the app removes the app's own data from your device.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; the new version and effective date will be posted on this page.
